These are the four coconut products for DIY body and beauti that I will cover:

  1. Coconut Oil
  2. Fractionated Coconut Oil
  3. Milk from a Coconut
  4. Water from a Coconut Water

Coconut Oil  (1)

Coconut oil is cold-pressed from the flesh found inside the shell. It is an excellent carrier oil for itchy, sensitive skin. (1)

Always look for unrefined coconut oil to get the best results! And, it’s resistant to rancidity. (1)

Plus, it has antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial properties. Which is especially important for skin health. (2)

For instance, many types of skin infections, including acne, athlete’s foot, and yeast infections, are caused by bacteria or fungi. (2)

The fatty acids found in coconut oil have anti-microbial properties that effectively kill bacteria and fungi. (2)

Therefore, applying coconut oil directly to the skin may prevent the growth of these microorganisms. (2)

In addition, it can be moisturizing and serves as a protective layer, helping to retain the moisture in your skin. (1)

However, I would not use solid coconut oil on your face.

Coconut oil is mild and generally safe for people with inflamed, irritated, and sensitive skin. (1)

Can also reduce symptoms of eczema. (2)

Another study shows its effectiveness as a weak sunscreen, blocking about 20% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. (2)

Plus, coconut oil can also be protective against hair damage.

Coconut oil is also used in a process called oil pulling. Oil pulling can kill some of the harmful bacteria in the mouth, improve dental health, and reduce bad breath. (2)

Fractionated Coconut Oil (2)

  • Fractionated coconut oil: Mainly used for various household and personal care purposes, like a moisturizer, hair conditioner, and massage oil.
  • Liquid coconut oil:  This is an ideal addition to vegetarian, vegan, raw, whole food, paleo, ketogenic, and gluten-free diets.

Coconut Water (3)

Using coconut water for skincare has hydrating and re-mineralizing properties.

Plus, coconut water is a natural acid sterile solution. Rich in essential amino acids, sugars, vitamins, mineral salts, and cell growth factors.

Therefore, coconut water can be very beneficial to your skin when applied topically.

Here are some of the positive results you could have when using coconut water as a natural moisturizer, toner, or cleanser:

  • Glowing skin
  • Wrinkle reduction
  • Even skin tone
  • Reduced oil and greasiness
  • Natural moisturizer

Coconut Milk (4)

There are various anti-aging benefits that can happen when using coconut milk. (5)

For instance, coconut milk is rich in various vitamins and minerals. Because of this, it can help promote healthier skin, boost hair growth, and treat common skin ailments. (4)

Coconut milk can alleviate wrinkles and give skin an overall firmer appearance. It’s made up of protein, copper, and distinctive fatty acids. (5)

Plus, lauric acid contains antibacterial and anti-viral properties. Which helps fight the free radicals that our skin and hair are often exposed to. (5)

Note: Coconut water and coconut milk need to be refrigerated after opening.

So, if you plan to make DIY beauti products with these two items, you will want to make small batches and use them within 7 to 10 days. Store in the refrigerator between uses.

You can also, you can make it for single-use.

  • This cleanser is very gentle on your skin and will leave you feeling clean and fresh every day!

I first discovered this cleanser from One Good Thing by Jillee.

However, I tweaked it a bit to my liking. For instance, I don’t add any essential oils to this blend.

Note: During my essential oil studies at Aromahead Institute, I learned how essential oils penetrate the skin.

It all depends on the permeability of the skin. The more porous the skin, the quicker the oils cross the layers and enter the bloodstream. (1)

The genitals are very porous, and is not the best place for essential oils unless you are dealing with an infection.

Then you must speak with a aromatherapist trained in this type of application! (1)
