Hello and Welcome! My name is Susie! Over the past 20yr’s, I have been on a personal journey to improve my physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
I have learned so many amazing things along the way that I want to share with you inside this blog, along with some fun stuff, too!
Hello and Welcome!
Over the years, life gives us things we never wanted or thought we could handle, you know what I mean, right.
For me, in a two-year time frame, I divorced after 17yrs, became a single mom, started a new career, was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), started working full time after 10 years of being a stay at home working/mom, had a minor mental breakdown, and started dating at 40 “Yikes” that was an experience!
But, I managed to work my way thru all of that, and I have grown so much.
Now, I am a happy, semi-well-adjusted person, wanting to live and experience new things and enjoy life as much as possible!
Here’s a little bit more about me. The long and the short of it anyway!
I’ll start with the short version!
- I’m in my mid 50’s and enjoying where I am in life!
- I’ve always been a girly girl! 🙂
- My son’s name is Ross (he’s pretty amazing if I do say so!)
- I’m married to my protector, friend, and confidant, Doug.
- We live in Kansas City, Missouri.
- I have worked in all kinds of jobs, from modeling clothes to being a truck driver (YEP, you read that right). But I have primarily worked in the health and beauti field.
- I’m into spiritual growth, personal development, and self-care.
- Essential oils, meditating, energy medicine, tai chi, angels, & sewing are a few of my favorite things!
- I eat organic, whole food and drink a lot of water.
- Plus, I make DIY Skincare, Haircare, Bodycare, and household products!
Hello and Welcome!
Yes, This girly girl is on a zip line! So much FUN!!!
Now, for the long version!
First of all, I consider myself a true girly girl, I’m not too fond of bugs, and I don’t like being sweaty. (Unless I’m on a zip line! HA! 😊)
I have always been a late bloomer in life and adopted the pen name Susie Bloom for the sake of this blogging journey and, of course, the blog name Blooming in Midlife!
Fortunately, I was able to have been a stay-at-home mom and raise my son for the first 10years of his life. (that was the best job I’ve ever had!!!:)
While raising Ross, I started a home-based business selling skincare and cosmetics and was a certified Beauti Consultant and Trainer for over 12 years.
I went on to earn my license in Nail Technology and then earned my Instructor license. I worked at a nationally accredited Beauty College as a nail instructor and manager for 5years.
Around this time, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA).
After the Diagnosis, I decided it was time for a change!
Therefore, I switched gears and started working at a local health food store as a buyer for the health and beauty department and customer service. I worked there for 6yrs.
Little did I know just how much of an impact working at the health food store would have on my life and health. It opened up all kinds of information and opportunities to learn about and improve my physical health.
I completed a year-long course in “Energy Medicine.” I’ve learned easy yet powerful techniques to keep my body’s energy balanced and healthier.
I’ve also earned my certificate as a “Certified Aromatherapist.” And, I earned a diploma from the “School of Natural Skincare.”
I love essential oils and use them in my DIY body products and cleaning products. I created a line of essential oil products called Bloom Essential Blends!
Hello and Welcome!
So, there you go. That’s a little about me, and a tiny peek into my world. I love sharing and teaching, and I have always wanted to be on the teaching end of the different career paths I took.
This blog is a great place to teach what I have learned from these different experiences. Also, to help and inspire you on your journey through the ebbs and flows of life!
Most importantly, I want you to know that you can
“Bloom Where you are Planted”
no matter where you are in life!
